10. Shark 30 -100 deaths per year.

Sharks are fish with a full cartilaginous skeleton and a streamlined body. They respire with the use of five to seven gill slits. Sharks have a covering of dermal denticles to protect their skin from damage, parasites and to improve fluid dynamics.

9. Jellyfish over 100 deaths per year.
Jellyfish are marine invertebrates belonging to the Scyphozoan class, and in turn the phylum Cnidaria. The body of an adult jellyfish is composed of a bell-shaped, jellylike substance enclosing its internal structure, from which the creature's tentacles suspend.

8. Hippopotamus over 200 deaths per year.
The Hippopotamus , from the Greek ?pp?p?ta?? , is a large, plant-eating African mammal, one of only two extant, and three or four recently extinct, species in the family Hippopotamidae.

7. Lion over 250 deaths per year.
The lion is a mammal of the family Felidae and one of four "big cats" in the genus Panthera. The lion is the second largest cat, after the tiger. The male lion, easily recognized by his mane, weighs between 150-225 kg and females range 120-150 kg . In the wild, lions live for around 10–14 years, while in captivity they can live over 20 years.

6. Bee over 400 deaths per year.
Bees are flying insects, closely related to wasps and ants. There are approximately 20,000 species of bees, and they may be found on every continent except Antarctica. Bees are adapted for feeding on nectar and pollen, the former primarily as an energy source, and the latter primarily for protein and other nutrients.

5. Elephant over 600 deaths per year.
Elephantidae is a family of pachyderm, and the only remaining family in the order Proboscidea in the class Mammalia. Elephantidae has three living species: the African Bush Elephant and the African Forest Elephant and the Asian Elephant .

4. Crocodile up to 2,000 deaths per year.
A crocodile is any species belonging to the family Crocodylidae . The term can also be used more loosely to include all members of the order Crocodilia: i.e. the true crocodiles, the alligators and caimans and the gharials . The crocodiles, colloquially called crocs, are large aquatic reptiles that live throughout the Tropics in Africa, Asia, the Americas and Australia.

3. Scorpion up to 5,000 deaths per year.
A scorpion is an invertebrate animal with eight legs, belonging to the order Scorpiones in the class Arachnida.

2. Snake over 100,000 deaths per year.
Snakes , also known as ophidians, are cold-blooded legless reptiles closely related to lizards, which share the order Squamata. There are also several species of legless lizard which superficially resemble snakes, but are not otherwise related to them.

1. Mosquito over 2 million deaths per year resulting from malaria infection caused by mosquito bites.
The mosquito is a member of the family Culicidae; these insects have a pair of scaled wings, a pair of halteres, a slender body, and long legs. The females of most mosquito species suck blood from other animals.

Just wondering where the information was gathered? What about horses? Horses kill many people every year. I seriousely doubt the 100,000 deaths by snake and even more so 2,000,000 deaths by mesquito. I'm calling BS on all of this.

    ever hear of malaria?

  3. Anonymous // July 31, 2008 at 12:21 AM

ya where did these figures come from? citation needed.

  4. Anonymous // July 31, 2008 at 7:58 AM

Yes, I have heard of malaria. But I seriously doubt the statistic is anywhere close to 2,000,000. Like I said, I would like to see where this info came from. I work with animals for a living and I know there are animals not listed on this that cause more deaths than sharks and lions. This is all BS. Plain and simple.

    Are you fucking serious?
Just because you work with animals, does not exclude you from being the dumb fuck you are.
Mosquitos ARE the worlds most dangerous animals.
They carry parasites, and illnesses such as malaria, west nile, dengue fever, and yellow fever which kills MILLIONS of people a year.
Stop demanding statistics you yourself cannot provide.
I'm in high-school, and I can come up with better cohesive arguments than you can.

Anyone could guess you were in high school by your response. After you've studied a bit more you can retort. No one ever said they we not the most dangerous. So what are your arguments? All the person did was ask for a source. Can you provide one? This is nothing more than typical media exaggeration.

Regardless of what the sources are on any of these statistics, it is excluding the most dangerous animal on earth: the human (yes, we are animals too!)

I don't even have the time to count up all the deaths of different species caused by humans.

  9. Anonymous // July 31, 2008 at 9:58 PM

Google world's most dangerous animals and the list on various websites are similar if not the same.

  10. Anonymous // July 31, 2008 at 10:13 PM

    Wow,
    very scary, really.
    I've never thought about that!...

From reading these comments, I'd say the most dangerous animal of all is the fearsome Drama Llama.

i am quite frankly confused the man is the most dangerous animal in the world but i think that this website is supposed to act as a warning to vacationing families or something of this sort. Also... i could have sworn that the mosquito is an insect???!!!???!?!?!?!

  14. Anonymous // January 14, 2009 at 2:57 PM

Hi. Is the information authentic ? Any reference links from where the information has been gathered ?

  15. Unknown // May 21, 2009 at 10:39 PM

Just wondering, couldn't humans be classified as the world's most dangerous animal? We are animals and I do believe that we are responsible for more deaths than any other animals. I don't doubt the figures given but are they human deaths or all animal species??

  16. Anonymous // June 22, 2009 at 12:30 PM

Dont forget the fact that alot of humans deny that they are 'animals' and insist that all of us were zapped onto this world by some irate, selfish, jelous invisible dictator wizard who doesnt show himself, yet he still manages to mess with our minds and cause us to go insane from 'divine fear' or something.

We are also sop judgemental of all other life and if another creature so much as attacks one of us (even if we started it) we insist on killing it and taunt it saying "burn in hell" and we make stories on how evil that creature is and how 'holy' we are.

    Humans are very dangerous indeed.
